Los Angeles Rams "Ram IT" Video
Happy Friday!
When former Sealy, SMU and LA Rams running back AND Pro Football Hall of Famer Eric Dickerson agreed to join Jim Hill on CBS2's 5th Quarter Thursday night after the Patriots/Dolphins game, CBS2 sports director Jim Hill spent weeks tracking down this 1986 video the team produced. My stomach is sore today from laughing at all its 1980's music video glory.

The Victoria's Secret Major League Baseball Collection
The Victoria's Secret Pink Texas Rangers Collection is a fashion home run. I LOVE the striped tank top with the sequined "T". This is absolutely Sunday-brunch-in-Uptown gear for the stylish sports fan...who might be a bit hungover. I can see some of my girls drinking mimosas and Ubering to the Ballpark wearing these. Not that I have ever done any of that.

Ugly Christmas Sweaters For Your Favorite Sports Fan
Click on any item to learn more about it.
These truly speak for themselves. Some brilliant sports marketing mind got on the fashion faux pas bandwagon this holiday season and produced ugly sports sweaters.
These are so bad they're fabulous.

Cowboys Anyone?
The Cowboys open the 2013 season at home against the Giants who have never lost at AT&T stadium since it opened in 2009. Dallas, however, has never lost to New York in the season opener, posting a 6-0 record against its NFC East rival in the first game of the year.
Cue the generic sports statement: Something's got to give!

UT Misspells 'TEXAS' In Its Media Guide And It's Glorious
The University of Texas Sports Information Department dropped the ball in its 2014 media guide.
Instead of promoting its website TexasSports.com, a typo appears as footer at the bottom of every, single stinking page.

That Sports Girl Dictionary: Puck Bunnies
When defining "Baseline Bimbo" last week, I was brain farted and couldn't remember our term for hockey ho's. Thank goodness I have friends in the right places because one hockey savant reminded of this beautiful term: Puck Bunnies.

Boone Pickens & Ted Turner - The Billionaire's Workout

Self-made captains of industry are a lot like you and me. They lead incredibly busy lives but still find time to get moving and squeeze in a workout.
Thursday night, I had the pleasure of attending a fundraiser for the Park Cities Quail organization which honored Ted Turner with the 2012 T. Boone Pickens Lifetime Sportsman Award. The great Pete Delkus moderated a conversation with the two avid sportsman and I got the biggest kick when they both answered Pete's question of "What's a typical day like for you?"
Both men start their days with exercise.

That Sports Girl Dictionary: Baseline Bimbo
You wouldn't believe the efforts I've seen from women looking to score a professional athlete while they're actually playing a game. It's kind of sad when you think about it because if these ladies applied a similar effort to their work, they'd be wildly successful.

2011 NFL Lockout vs NBA Lockout
With the NFL lockout in full swing, the upcoming possible NBA lockout this summer has almost been forgotten. Sure it's in the back of some fans' minds but for the most part, they're focused on their teams' playoff seeding and how they're closing out the regular season.
NBA players are preparing for the worst. Just like many of their Dallas Cowboys counterparts admitted during the NFL season, many Dallas Mavericks players are anticipating it. Mavs guard Jason Terry joked one day during practice this fall that they are all trying to save their money. I'm sure NBA players version of saving is much different from ours. It's all relative.
The New York Times Sunday magazine examines which league and, subsequently, which commissioner is better suited to handle a lockout. What made me giggle was that the only NBA and NFL owners author Tommy Craggs cited were our very own Mark Cuban and Jerry Jones.
Ponder for a moment that both commissioners are peddling what is essentially an upward redistribution of wealth into the hands of guys like Jerry Jones and Mark Cuban. It’s going to take some real salesmanship to get the public to go for that. So who’s better equipped to do it?

What It REALLY Means To Be In The Pro Football Hall Of Fame 😀
There are some nervous men waking up across North Texas Saturday morning. Not members of the Packers or Steelers competing in Super Bowl XLV. It's the men who will find out on this very day if they will be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, OH later this year.Christmas came early for us. We received the football from the @dallascowboys 500th regular season win in their franchise history. pic.twitter.com/aKVDtBV0MQ— Pro Football HOF (@ProFootballHOF) December 22, 2017
Finalists include former Cowboys Deion Sanders and Charles Haley as well as Dallas native Tim Brown. Here is a complete rundown of the 17 finalists.

Allen Eagle $60 Million Stadium Construction Coverage
And the Old Gray Lady is gawking. A bit.
What a kick I got when I opened my New York Times this morning to find a profile on Allen ISD's stadium project. Top of the sports page fold, no less.
It's what I expected: a well-written article outlining the new 18,000-seat shrine that will feature "a two-tier press box, an indoor golf practice area, a high-definition video scoreboard, a practice room for wrestling, and enough parking for every car in Dallas, or close."
Author Greg Bishop even points out that "Allen ranks among the state’s top academic school."
But he exhibits the utter shock and disbelief that most people do (let's just say it: the folks who ain't from here) when being introduced to Texas high school football.
"This is no ordinary stadium, in no ordinary state, where only football supersedes faith and family. Super Bowl XLV will take place a short drive southwest next Sunday at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, but folks here know all about the sport’s oversize importance. Here, even the stadium is big."

Super Bowl XLV Experience | Review
For those of you not interested in shelling out four figures (at least) for Super Bowl XLV tickets to see the Steelers and Packers play on February 6th, you can get the full NFL experience at, well, the NFL Experience.
It opened at the Dallas Convention Center Thursday night. Producer's bill it as "pro football's interactive theme park offering participatory games, displays, entertainment attractions, kids' football clinics, free autograph sessions and the largest football memorabilia show ever." Here's a link to all of the activities and exhibits you can find there.

Super Bowl XLV Snowmageddon

| At least my dog, Birdie, likes it! |
I spoke with a number of visiting media types on Tuesday. Radio guys from Green Bay, New York and Pittsburgh all got a kick how the "Texans" were handling the weather. They understood there was nothing we could do about the ice but had a simple "we're all dealing with it attitude" in terms of transportation and day-to-day operations.
